Bentota
Your trip of a lifetime starts the moment you clear arrivals. We meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport and drive down the palm-lined southern coast to Bentota, where the only thing on today's agenda is slowing down. By sunset you'll know everyone's name - and the week ahead wll feel a lot like travelling with friends.
Overnight Stay: Bentota
Mirissa
Today the coast road does the storytelling. We trace the shoreline south with a stop inside the ramparts of Galle Dutch Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage town of cobbled lanes and lighthouse views - before rolling into Mirissa for sunset. Then, after dark, the jungle starts calling.
Overnight Stay: Mirissa
Weligama's long, gentle bay is one of the best places on the planet to stand up on a surfboard for the first time - so that's exactly what we do. The afternoon belongs to the coves of Secret Beach, and the evening to ocean-side music on the Mirissa strip.
Overnight Stay: Mirissa
Yala
Yala has the highest leopard density on Earth — and this afternoon you're in an open jeep in the middle of it. Elephants at the waterholes, crocodiles in the lagoons and, with a little luck, the spotted cat itself. Lunch is served in the wild, exactly as it should be.
Overnight Stay: Yala
Ella
From the dry plains of Yala the road climbs — past Ravana Falls and into the cool, green folds of the hill country. In Ella we walk out to the Nine Arches Bridge to watch the train curve through the jungle, then hike Little Adam's Peak for a sunset you'll be talking about for years.
Overnight Stay: Ella
Kandy
Window down, feet on the doorstep, tea country rolling past - the Ella to Nanu Oya line is the train journey every traveller dreams about. We ride it through misty plantations and mountain tunnels, then drive on to Kandy for an easy evening by the lake.
Overnight Stay: Kandy
Sigiriya is a 5th century palace built on top of a 200-metre column of rock - and this morning you're climbing it. Back in Kandy, we visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and wander the markets before one last farewell evening with the crew.
Overnight Stay: Kandy
Colombo
Seven nights, a thousand stories. After breakfast we wind back down to Colombo — with time for some last-minute shopping if the flights allow — and drop you at the airport with a camera roll you'll never delete.
Departure: Colombo Airport
