Kullu
Roll into Kullu in the morning and check into your pre-booked accommodation to rest and refresh after the overnight journey.
Spend the day at leisure, exploring the town at your own pace — wander the local markets for souvenirs and Himachali handicrafts, and ease gently into mountain time before the riding begins.
Overnight stay: Kullu
Meals: Dinner
Sarahan
Helmets on, engines running — the riding begins in earnest. The route climbs through dense oak and rhododendron forests toward Jalori Pass (3,120 m), pausing at the charming stream fed hamlet of Jibhi for a slow coffee.
Arrive in Sarahan, perched above the Sutlej gorge and dominated by the multi-tiered Bhimakali Temple, its wooden carvings turning gold in the evening light.
Overnight stay: Sarahan
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Sangla
Among the most scenic rides in all of Himachal — a narrow road cut into towering cliffs above the roaring Baspa River. Detour to Chitkul, India’s last inhabited village before the Tibetan border (3,450 m), with its slate-roofed Kinnauri houses and prayer-flag temples. Descend to Sangla amid apple orchards and the dramatic amphitheatre of the valley walls.
Overnight stay: Sangla
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Kaza
The longest and richest riding day of the circuit. Still, glassy Nako Lake (3,662 m) arrives first; then Gue Monastery, home to a 500-year-old naturally mummified monk. Tabo — a UNESCO site founded in 996 AD — holds the finest Himalayan Buddhist art in existence, and Dhankar clings to a crumbling cliff at 3,894 m. Arrive in Kaza, the bustling capital of Spiti, at sunset.
Overnight stay: Kaza
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
A full day among the villages that make Spiti unlike anywhere else. Ki Monastery is the largest gompa in the valley, a labyrinthine fortress home to 300 monks. Hikkim houses the world’s highest post office; Komik sits even higher at ~4,587 m; and Langza is an open-air fossil museum where 500-million-year-old marine fossils lie in the rocks. Return to Kaza, tired in the best possible way.
Overnight stay: Kaza
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Chandratal
An early start — the road to Chandratal demands daylight. Ride through Kibber (4,270 m), then cross the Chicham Bridge, Asia’s highest motorable bridge, suspended 150 m above the gorge.
Kunzum Pass (4,590 m) marks the gateway to Lahaul. Chandratal — the Moon Lake — appears suddenly: a crescent of shocking blue against rust-coloured peaks. Camp beside it under a sky thick with stars.
Overnight stay: Chandratal Lake (Camps)
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Manali
Rise early for one final sunrise over Chandratal before pointing the handlebars toward Manali.
The Atal Tunnel — the world’s longest highway tunnel above 10,000 ft — collapses the old Rohtang crossing into a smooth, all-season passage. Emerge into the glacier-framed bowl of Solang Valley before the final descent. Check into your hotel for a hot shower, a warm meal, and well-earned rest.
Overnight stay: Manali
Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Delhi
A relaxed final day in Manali, with no schedule, no passes, and no early starts.
Visit Hadimba Devi Temple, the ancient pagoda shrine set in a cedar grove where the silence feels almost sacred. Stroll through Old Manali's café lanes, browse the Tibetan market for last-minute souvenirs, or simply sit by the Beas River and let the mountain air do its work one final time.
Board your overnight Volvo bus to Delhi in the evening. The mountains recede behind you; the memories travel with you.
